CELEBRATIONS

I finally found the time to make myself the Chinese Zodiac that I had mentioned earlier on. I have not yet decided where to hang it as it is 6 sq.ft. I do know that this one will not be for sale.

My side of the family celebrates Christmas in January according to the Julian calendar. No we are not Ukranian, we are one of the many other European cultures that still celebrate the old Christmas.



The Mare and Colt is what I made for my sister Karen.

She has always been a horse lover and always wanted to have her own horse ranch some day. At least these horses don't need much attention.

Our Family has many birthdays near the end of the year and it seems to be our Christmas get together where we have a chance to catch up on the birthday cheers as well.

I have always been interested in the Chinese Zodiac Symbols and writing as an art form so this year I made some personal gifts complete with their names in Chinese on the back. Eventually I plan on making myself a complete set.

My niece ( and God-child ) Sarah has a fascination for penguins and that includes all of my penguins so I made her a pint-size set for a be-lated birthday gift.

WELCOME TO MY HAPPY PLACE

Everyone needs a special place where they can be at peace with themselves. Some may do yoga, meditate, work out at a gym, play a sport, do gardening or read a good book.
I have developed a taste for sawdust and slivers. Welcome to my happy place.

CREATIONS FOR FAMILY MEMBERS

I made this mouse and cheese for my mother.

My mother has always been my #1 fan when it came to my crafts that I created but she really loves my wood working.

I get a great feeling of self satisfaction from her responses as she examines each new piece that I make. I have given her a number of my creations.

Below are some of the projects that I made for various family members.

MY INSPRIATION - my inspiration's nickname is "Silver", thus my craft name " Slivers".

I was introduced to the passion of Intaria and Wood crafting about one year ago.

A gentleman that I work with has been doing Intarsia for many years. He would bring photos of his completed works of art and once in a while he would bring the actual piece in to show me. As we would talk about the new projects he was working on, I noticed the excited expression on his face and the passion in his voice as he described wood grains, exotic wood and the process from start to finish.

Have you ever seen or know someone that had special something that you were personnaly looking for? Maybe it was patience, a positive attitude or they just seemed to have everything all together." I wanted the passion and personal satisfaction that this gentleman had".

My husband got me a scroll saw for Christmas and cleaned a small area in the back of the garage where I could work. I started out by thinking of how I interpeted the process to be and made my own pattern. Of course things didn't go as I thought they would but you have to start some place.

This is my very first thing I made:

21" Floral and Butterfly - containing 125 pcs.

Of course with practice comes perfection and although I am far from perfection my technique quality has increase dramatically.
